^{1 Ref} and he stood upon the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns, and seven heads, and on his horns ten diadems, and upon his heads names of blasphemy.

^{2 Ref} And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as `the feet' of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his throne, and great authority.

^{3 Ref} And `I saw' one of his heads as though it had been smitten unto death; and his death-stroke was healed: and the whole earth wondered after the beast;

^{4 Ref} and they worshipped the dragon, because he gave his authority unto the beast; and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? And who is able to war with him?

^{5 Ref} and there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and there was given to him authority to continue forty and two months.

^{6 Ref} And he opened his mouth for blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, `even' them that dwell in the heaven.

^{7 Ref} And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and there was given to him authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.

^{8 Ref} And all that dwell on the earth shall worship him, `every one' whose name hath not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that hath been slain.

^{9 Ref} If any man hath an ear, let him hear.

^{10 Ref} If any man `is' for captivity, into captivity he goeth: if any man shall kill with the sword, with the sword must he be killed. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

^{11 Ref} And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like unto lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

^{12 Ref} And he exerciseth all the authority of the first beast in his sight. And he maketh the earth and them dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose death-stroke was healed.

^{13 Ref} And he doeth great signs, that he should even make fire to come down out of heaven upon the earth in the sight of men.

^{14 Ref} And he deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by reason of the signs which it was given him to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who hath the stroke of the sword and lived.

^{15 Ref} And it was given `unto him' to give breath to it, `even' to the image to the breast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as should not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

^{16 Ref} And he causeth all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bond, that there be given them a mark on their right hand, or upon their forehead;

^{17 Ref} and that no man should be able to buy or to sell, save he that hath the mark, `even' the name of the beast or the number of his name.

^{18 Ref} Here is wisdom. He that hath understanding, let him count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man: and his number is Six hundred and sixty and six.

^{2 Ref} And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power and his seat and great authority.

^{3 Ref} And I saw one of his heads as if it had been given a death-wound; and his death-wound was made well: and all the earth was wondering at the beast.

^{4 Ref} And they gave worship to the dragon, because he gave authority to the beast; and worshipping the beast, they said, Who is like the beast? and who is able to go to war with him?

^{5 Ref} And there was given to him a mouth to say words of pride against God; and there was given to him authority to go on for forty-two months.

^{6 Ref} And his mouth was open to say evil against God, and against his name and his Tent, even against those who are in heaven.

^{7 Ref} And it was given to him to make war on the saints and to overcome them: and there was given to him authority over every tribe and people and language and nation.

^{8 Ref} And all who are on the earth will give him worship, everyone whose name has not been from the first in the book of life of the Lamb who was put to death.

^{9 Ref} If any man has ears, let him give ear.

^{10 Ref} If any man sends others into prison, into prison he will go: if any man puts to death with the sword, with the sword will he be put to death. Here is the quiet strength and the faith of the saints.

^{11 Ref} And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and his voice was like that of a dragon.

^{12 Ref} And he makes use of all the authority of the first beast before his eyes. And he makes the earth and those who are in it give worship to the first beast, whose death-wound was made well.

^{13 Ref} And he does great signs, even making fire come down from heaven on the earth before the eyes of men.

^{14 Ref} And those who are on the earth are turned from the true way by him through the signs which he was given power to do before the beast; giving orders to those who are on the earth to make an image to the beast, who was wounded by the sword, and came to life.

^{15 Ref} And he had power to give breath to the image of the beast, so that words might come from the image of the beast, and that he might have all those who did not give worship to the image of the beast put to death.

^{16 Ref} And he gives to all, small and great, the poor and those who have wealth, the free and those who are not free, a mark on their right hand or on their brows;

^{17 Ref} So that no man might be able to do trade but he who has the mark, even the name of the beast or the number of his name.

^{18 Ref} Here is wisdom. He who has knowledge let him get the number of the beast; because it is the number of a man: and his number is Six hundred and sixty-six.

^{3 Ref} And I saw one of its heads as slain to death, and its deadly stroke was healed, and all the earth did wonder after the beast,

^{4 Ref} and they did bow before the dragon who did give authority to the beast, and they did bow before the beast, saying, `Who `is' like to the beast? who is able to war with it?'

^{5 Ref} And there was given to it a mouth speaking great things, and evil-speakings, and there was given to it authority to make war forty-two months,

^{6 Ref} and it did open its mouth for evil-speaking toward God, to speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle, and of those who in the heaven tabernacle,

^{7 Ref} and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them, and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.

^{8 Ref} And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world;

^{9 Ref} if any one hath an ear -- let him hear:

^{10 Ref} if any one a captivity doth gather, into captivity he doth go away; if any one by sword doth kill, it behoveth him by sword to be killed; here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

^{11 Ref} And I saw another beast coming up out of the land, and it had two horns, like a lamb, and it was speaking as a dragon,

^{12 Ref} and all the authority of the first beast doth it do before it, and it maketh the land and those dwelling in it that they shall bow before the first beast, whose deadly stroke was healed,

^{13 Ref} and it doth great signs, that fire also it may make to come down from the heaven to the earth before men,

^{14 Ref} and it leadeth astray those dwelling on the land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that hath the stroke of the sword and did live,

^{15 Ref} and there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, that also the image of the beast may speak, and `that' it may cause as many as shall not bow before the image of the beast, that they may be killed.

^{16 Ref} And it maketh all, the small, and the great, and the rich, and the poor, and the freemen, and the servants, that it may give to them a mark upon their right hand or upon their foreheads,

^{17 Ref} and that no one may be able to buy, or to sell, except he who is having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

^{18 Ref} Here is the wisdom! He who is having the understanding, let him count the number of the beast, for the number of a man it is, and its number `is' 666.
