⁵² And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.

²² Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a fountain; His branches run over the wall.

²³ And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were born upon Joseph's knees.

⁶ And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

⁶ that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

¹ Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

² Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem; and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she hath received of Jehovah's hand double for all her sins.

¹⁷ He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold for a servant:

¹⁸ His feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid in `chains of' iron,

¹⁶ the angel who hath redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

¹⁷ And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

¹⁸ And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father; for this is the first-born; put thy right hand upon his head.

¹⁹ And his father refused, and said, I know `it', my son, I know `it'. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: howbeit his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

⁶ And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.

⁷ And Bilhah Rachel's handmaid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.

⁸ And Rachel said, With mighty wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.

⁹ When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob to wife.

¹⁰ And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bare Jacob a son.

¹¹ And Leah said, Fortunate! and she called his name Gad.

¹² And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bare Jacob a second son.

¹³ And Leah said, Happy am I! for the daughters will call me happy: and she called his name Asher.

³² And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben. For she said, Because Jehovah hath looked upon my affliction. For now my husband will love me.

³³ And she conceived again, and bare a son: and said, Because Jehovah hath heard that I am hated, he hath therefore given me this `son' also. And she called his name Simeon.

³⁴ And she conceived again, and bare a son. And said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons. Therefore was his name called Levi.

³⁵ And she conceived again, and bare a son. And she said, This time will I praise Jehovah. Therefore she called his name Judah. And she left off bearing.

³ And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a company of peoples.
