^{28 Ref} And one of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together, and knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, What commandment is the first of all?

^{29 Ref} Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:

^{30 Ref} and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.
