^{18 Ref} We are certain that one who is a child of God will do no sin, but the Son of God keeps him so that he is not touched by the Evil One.

^{19 Ref} We are certain that we are of God, but all the world is in the power of the Evil One.

^{20 Ref} And we are certain that the Son of God has come, and has given us a clear vision, so that we may see him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

^{18 Ref} We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

^{19 Ref} And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

^{20 Ref} And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
