9 Ref And the love of God was made clear to us when he sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him.
10 Ref And this is love, not that we had love for God, but that he had love for us, and sent his Son to be an offering for our sins.
11 Ref My loved ones, if God had such love for us, it is right for us to have love for one another.
12 Ref No man has ever seen God: if we have love for one another, God is in us and his love is made complete in us:

9 Ref By this was God's love revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
10 Ref In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice{"atoning sacrifice" is from the Greek "hilasmos," an appeasing, propitiating, or the means of appeasement or propitiation-- the sacrifice that turns away God's wrath because of our sin.} for our sins.
11 Ref Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.
12 Ref No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us.
