^{28 Ref} Even so it is right for husbands to have love for their wives as for their bodies. He who has love for his wife has love for himself:

^{29 Ref} For no man ever had hate for his flesh; but he gives it food and takes care of it, even as Christ does for the church;

^{30 Ref} Because we are parts of his body.

^{31 Ref} For this cause will a man go away from his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.

^{28 Ref} Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

^{29 Ref} For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly;

^{30 Ref} because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.

^{31 Ref} "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh."
