^{36 Ref} Then he went away from the people, and went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Make clear to us the story of the evil plants in the field.

^{37 Ref} And he made answer and said, He who puts the good seed in the earth is the Son of man;

^{38 Ref} And the field is the world; and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; and the evil seeds are the sons of the Evil One;

^{39 Ref} And he who put them in the earth is Satan; and the getting in of the grain is the end of the world; and those who get it in are the angels.

^{40 Ref} As then the evil plants are got together and burned with fire, so will it be in the end of the world.

^{41 Ref} The Son of man will send out his angels, and they will take out of his kingdom everything which is a cause of error, and all those who do wrong,

^{42 Ref} And will put them into the fire; there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.

^{43 Ref} Then will the upright be shining as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him give ear.

^{44 Ref} The kingdom of heaven is like a secret store of wealth in a field, which a man came across and put back again; and in his joy he goes and gives all he has, to get that field.

^{36 Ref} Then having let away the multitudes, Jesus came to the house, and his disciples came near to him, saying, `Explain to us the simile of the darnel of the field.'

^{37 Ref} And he answering said to them, `He who is sowing the good seed is the Son of Man,

^{38 Ref} and the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, and the darnel are the sons of the evil one,

^{39 Ref} and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers.

^{40 Ref} `As, then, the darnel is gathered up, and is burned with fire, so shall it be in the full end of this age,

^{41 Ref} the Son of Man shall send forth his messengers, and they shall gather up out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing the unlawlessness,

^{42 Ref} and shall cast them to the furnace of the fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

^{43 Ref} `Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the reign of their Father. He who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.

^{44 Ref} `Again, the reign of the heavens is like to treasure hid in the field, which a man having found did hide, and from his joy goeth, and all, as much as he hath, he selleth, and buyeth that field.

^{40 Ref} As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world.

^{41 Ref} The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity,

^{42 Ref} and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

^{43 Ref} Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.

^{44 Ref} The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
