^{20 Ref} But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

^{21 Ref} And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

^{22 Ref} Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

^{23 Ref} Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

^{24 Ref} Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

^{25 Ref} And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

^{20 Ref} But when he was giving thought to these things, an angel of the Lord came to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, have no fear of taking Mary as your wife; because that which is in her body is of the Holy Spirit.

^{21 Ref} And she will give birth to a son; and you will give him the name Jesus; for he will give his people salvation from their sins.

^{22 Ref} Now all this took place so that the word of the Lord by the prophet might come true,

^{23 Ref} See, the virgin will be with child, and will give birth to a son, and they will give him the name Immanuel, that is, God with us.

^{24 Ref} And Joseph did as the angel of the Lord had said to him, and took her as his wife;

^{25 Ref} And he had no connection with her till she had given birth to a son; and he gave him the name Jesus.
