Psalms 59
World English Bible (WEB)
1 Ref > Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.
2 Ref Deliver me from the workers of iniquity. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.
3 Ref For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me, Not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, Yahweh.
4 Ref I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me. Rise up, behold, and help me!
5 Ref You, Yahweh God of hosts, the God of Israel, Rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah.
6 Ref They return at evening, howling like dogs, And prowl around the city.
7 Ref Behold, they spew with their mouth. Swords are in their lips, "For," they say, "who hears us?"
8 Ref But you, Yahweh, laugh at them. You scoff at all the nations.
9 Ref Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, For God is my high tower.
10 Ref My God will go before me with his loving kindness. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.
11 Ref Don't kill them, or my people may forget. Scatter them by your power, and bring them down, Lord our shield.
12 Ref For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips, Let them be caught in their pride, For the curses and lies which they utter.
13 Ref Consume them in wrath. Consume them, and they will be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob, To the ends of the earth. Selah.
14 Ref At evening let them return. Let them howl like a dog, and go around the city.
15 Ref They shall wander up and down for food, And wait all night if they aren't satisfied.
16 Ref But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, A refuge in the day of my distress.
17 Ref To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.
King James Version (KJV)
1 Ref Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 Ref Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
3 Ref For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
4 Ref They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
5 Ref Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.
6 Ref They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
7 Ref Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
8 Ref But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
9 Ref Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
10 Ref The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
11 Ref Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
12 Ref For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
13 Ref Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
14 Ref And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
15 Ref Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
16 Ref But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Ref Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
