¹⁹ And by this we know that we are of the truth, and persuade our hearts before him,

²² let's draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

²¹ Beloved, if our hearts don't condemn us, we have boldness toward God;

¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn't love his brother remains in death.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen{TR adds "and being convinced of"} them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.

¹¹ We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fullness of hope even to the end,

¹² For this cause I suffer also these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."

¹⁷ The work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

³⁵ By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
