¹⁸ For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain." And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."

⁴ You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out [the grain].

⁷ Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don't go from house to house.

¹⁰ Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.

¹⁴ You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he be of your brothers, or of your foreigners who are in your land within your gates:

¹⁵ in his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it: lest he cry against you to Yahweh, and it be sin to you.

¹³ "'You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.

⁷ What soldier ever serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and doesn't eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and doesn't drink from the flock's milk?

⁸ Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or doesn't the law also say the same thing?

⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it for the oxen that God cares,

¹⁰ or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.

¹⁴ Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Gospel should live from the Gospel.

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"?

² God didn't reject his people, which he foreknew. Or don't you know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel:

¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth."

³ For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."

¹¹ For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed."

⁸ The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you all the nations will be blessed."
