⁴⁴ and the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So it happened that they all escaped safely to the land.

²² Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

²⁴ saying, 'Don't be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.'

²⁸ Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, And he brings them out of their distress.

²⁹ He makes the storm a calm, So that its waves are still.

³⁰ Then they are glad because it is calm, So he brings them to their desired haven.

⁹ "For, behold, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet not the least kernel will fall on the earth.

³⁹ This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.

⁴⁰ This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

³¹ Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, "Unless these stay in the ship, you can't be saved."

⁸ For we don't desire to have you uninformed, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

⁹ Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,

¹⁰ who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

¹⁸ "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?"
