³⁸ As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men{Reading from NU, TR; MT omits "two men"} to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which when translated, means Dorcas.{"Dorcas" is Greek for "Gazelle."} This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.

²⁸ Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? Didn't I say, Do not deceive me?

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up your loins, and take my staff in your hand, and go your way: if you meet any man, Don't greet him; and if anyone greets you, don't answer him again: and lay my staff on the face of the child.

³⁰ The mother of the child said, As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. He arose, and followed her.

³² It happened, as Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.

²⁶ When he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. It happened, that for a whole year they were gathered together with the assembly, and taught many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
