⁴ You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out [the grain].

¹⁰ A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it for the oxen that God cares,

¹⁰ or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.

²⁷ For the dill are not threshed with a sharp [threshing] instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about on the cumin; but the dill are beaten out with a staff, and the cumin with a rod.

¹¹ Ephraim is a trained heifer that loves to thresh; So I will put a yoke on her beautiful neck. I will set a rider on Ephraim. Judah will plow. Jacob will break his clods.

¹⁷ Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.

¹⁸ For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain." And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
