¹⁶ They shall be disappointed, yes, confounded, all of them; they shall go into confusion together who are makers of idols.

¹⁷ They shall be turned back, they shall be utterly disappointed, who trust in engraved images, who tell molten images, You are our gods.

⁹ Those who fashion an engraved image are all of them vanity; and the things that they delight in shall not profit; and their own witnesses don't see, nor know: that they may be disappointed.

¹¹ Behold, all his fellows shall be disappointed; and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they shall fear, they shall be put to shame together.

⁷ Let all them be shamed who serve engraved images, Who boast in their idols. Worship him, all you gods!

¹⁹ I will put in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, the pine, and the box tree together:

²⁰ Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations: they have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can't save.

²⁶ As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets;

²⁷ who tell a stock, You are my father; and to a stone, You have brought me forth: for they have turned their back to me, and not their face; but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

¹⁴ Every man is become brutish [and is] without knowledge; every goldsmith is disappointed by his engraved image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

¹⁵ They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
