¹⁹ He will deliver you in six troubles; Yes, in seven there shall no evil touch you.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

¹⁶ For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.

¹³ No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

³ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence.

⁴ He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.

⁵ You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day;

⁶ Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.

⁷ A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it will not come near you.

⁸ You will only look with your eyes, And see the recompense of the wicked.

⁹ Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, And the Most High your dwelling place,

¹⁰ No evil shall happen to you, Neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.

⁸ For we don't desire to have you uninformed, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

⁹ the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;
