¹⁸ The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight,

¹⁴ Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, "Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city." But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

¹⁵ while it is said, "Today if you will hear his voice, Don't harden your hearts, as in the rebellion."

¹⁶ For who, when they heard, rebelled? No, didn't all those who came out of Egypt by Moses?

¹⁷ With whom was he displeased forty years? Wasn't it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

¹⁸ To whom did he swear that they wouldn't enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

¹⁹ We see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.

³⁷ But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn't believe in him,

³⁸ that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

³⁹ For this cause they couldn't believe, for Isaiah said again,

⁴⁰ "He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, Lest they should see with their eyes, And perceive with their heart, And would turn, And I would heal them."

²² His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?

¹⁹ This is John's testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"

³¹ "He said to him, 'If they don't listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.'"

¹ Who has believed our message? and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?

¹¹ Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don't see: but they shall see [your] zeal for the people, and be disappointed; yes, fire shall devour your adversaries.

¹¹ Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
