¹⁰ He is to me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places.

¹⁶ If my head is held high, you hunt me like a lion. Again you show yourself powerful to me.

⁹ He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.

¹² He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, As it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

¹³ I quieted [myself] until morning; as a lion, so he breaks all my bones: From day even to night will you make an end of me.

¹⁴ For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, And like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.

¹ "Come, and let us return to Yahweh; For he has torn us to pieces, And he will heal us; He has injured us, And he will bind up our wounds.

⁷ Therefore am I to them like a lion; Like a leopard I will lurk by the path.

⁸ I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, And will tear the covering of their heart. And there I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.

¹⁸ "Woe to you who desire the day of Yahweh! Why do you long for the day of Yahweh? It is darkness, And not light.

¹⁹ As if a man fled from a lion, And a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, And a snake bit him.

²⁰ Will the day of Yahweh not be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
