²⁸ and they began saying to him, "By what authority do you do these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?"

¹⁴ He said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?" Moses was afraid, and said, "Surely this thing is known."

³ and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, You take too much on you, seeing all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and Yahweh is among them: why then lift yourselves up above the assembly of Yahweh?

¹³ is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must needs make yourself also a prince over us?

²⁷ But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

²⁸ Do you want to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?'

³⁸ This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living oracles to give to us,

³⁹ to whom our fathers wouldn't be obedient, but rejected him, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,

⁵¹ "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.
