⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, "I neither know, nor understand what you are saying." He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.

⁷¹ When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, "This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth."

⁷² Again he denied it with an oath, "I don't know the man."

²⁹ But Peter said to him, "Although all will be offended, yet I will not."

³⁰ Jesus said to him, "Most assuredly I tell you, that you today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."

³¹ But he spoke all the more, "If I must die with you, I will not deny you." They all said the same thing.

⁷² The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." When he thought about that, he wept.

³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you can't follow now, but you will follow afterwards."

³⁷ Peter said to him, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."

³⁸ Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for me? Most assuredly I tell you, the rooster won't crow until you have denied me three times.

¹² If we endure, We will also reign with him. If we deny him, He also will deny us.

¹³ If we are faithless, He remains faithful. He can't deny himself.
