¹⁷ James the son of Zebedee; John, the brother of James, and he surnamed them Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder;

¹ Cry aloud, don't spare, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

¹² For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

¹ Now about that time, Herod the king stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.

²⁰ Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus sincerely loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus' breast at the supper and asked, "Lord, who is going to betray You?"

²¹ Peter seeing him, said to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?"

²² Jesus said to him, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."

²³ This saying therefore went out among the brothers{The word for "brothers" here may be also correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}, that this disciple wouldn't die. Yet Jesus didn't say to him that he wouldn't die, but, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?"

²⁴ This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.

²⁵ There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn't have room for the books that would be written.

² Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.

³³ He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.

³⁵ James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask."

² After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them.

³⁷ He allowed no one to follow him, except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

¹⁹ Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.

²⁰ Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

²⁹ Isn't my word like fire? says Yahweh; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

¹¹ They told me, "You must prophesy again over many peoples, nations, languages, and kings."
