¹⁵ and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, "Out of Egypt I called my son."

¹ "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, And called my son out of Egypt.

²² You shall tell Pharaoh, 'Thus says Yahweh, Israel is my son, my firstborn,

³⁶ For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "A bone of him will not be broken."

²⁸ After this, Jesus, seeing{NU, TR read "knowing" instead of "seeing"} that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."

²² Now all this has happened, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

²³ Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn't give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.

²⁴ But the word of God grew and multiplied.

⁸ God brings him forth out of Egypt; He has as it were the strength of the wild-ox: He shall eat up the nations his adversaries, Shall break their bones in pieces, Smite [them] through with his arrows.

¹⁶ and charged them that they should not make him known:

¹⁷ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

¹⁸ "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit on him. He will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.

⁵⁶ But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

⁵⁴ How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?"

⁴ All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

¹⁷ Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,

³⁵ When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among them, casting lots,{TR adds "that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: 'They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots;'" [see Psalm 22:18 and John 19:24]}

¹ Now about that time, Herod the king stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.

² He killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.

³ When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.

⁴ When he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.

¹⁶ "Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.

⁴⁴ He said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled."
