⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, As a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Blessed be everyone who blesses you, Cursed be everyone who curses you.

²⁴ Behold, the people rises up as a lioness, As a lion does he lift himself up: He shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, Drink the blood of the slain.

⁹ Judah is a lion's cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, As a lioness. Who will rouse him up?

³ I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. In you will all of the families of the earth be blessed."

²⁹ Let peoples serve you, Nations bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, Let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, Blessed be everyone who blesses you."

⁵ He said, "Who are you, Lord?" The Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.{TR adds "It's hard for you to kick against the goads."}

⁴⁵ "Then he will answer them, saying, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of the least of these, you didn't do it to me.'

⁴⁰ "The King will answer them, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers{The word for "brothers" here may be also correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}, you did it to me.'

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.

¹² Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

¹⁰ None is so fierce that he dare stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me?

³⁹ "Can you hunt the prey for the lioness, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,

⁴⁰ When they crouch in their dens, And lie in wait in the thicket?
