² On the willows in the midst of it, We hung up our harps.

⁸ The mirth of tambourines ceases, the noise of those who rejoice ends, the joy of the harp ceases.

¹³ I will cause the noise of your songs to cease; and the sound of your harps shall be no more heard.

² Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.

² Raise a song, and bring here the tambourine, The pleasant lyre with the harp.

¹⁰ I will turn your feasts into mourning, And all your songs into lamentation; And I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, And baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, And the end of it like a bitter day.

²² The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.
