^{1 Ref} Every one who is believing that Jesus is the Christ, of God he hath been begotten, and every one who is loving Him who did beget, doth love also him who is begotten of Him:

^{2 Ref} in this we know that we love the children of God, when we may love God, and His commands may keep;

^{3 Ref} for this is the love of God, that His commands we may keep, and His commands are not burdensome;

^{4 Ref} because every one who is begotten of God doth overcome the world, and this is the victory that did overcome the world -- our faith;

^{5 Ref} who is he who is overcoming the world, if not he who is believing that Jesus is the Son of God?

^{6 Ref} This one is he who did come through water and blood -- Jesus the Christ, not in the water only, but in the water and the blood; and the Spirit it is that is testifying, because the Spirit is the truth,

^{7 Ref} because three are who are testifying `in the heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these -- the three -- are one;

^{8 Ref} and three are who are testifying in the earth', the Spirit, and the water, and the blood, and the three are into the one.

^{9 Ref} If the testimony of men we receive, the testimony of God is greater, because this is the testimony of God that He hath testified concerning His Son.

^{10 Ref} He who is believing in the Son of God, hath the testimony in himself; he who is not believing God, a liar hath made Him, because he hath not believed in the testimony that God hath testified concerning His Son;

^{11 Ref} and this is the testimony, that life age-during did God give to us, and this -- the life -- is in His Son;

^{12 Ref} he who is having the Son, hath the life; he who is not having the Son of God -- the life he hath not.

^{13 Ref} These things I did write to you who are believing in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that life ye have age-during, and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.

^{14 Ref} And this is the boldness that we have toward Him, that if anything we may ask according to his will, He doth hear us,

^{15 Ref} and if we have known that He doth hear us, whatever we may ask, we have known that we have the requests that we have requested from Him.

^{16 Ref} If any one may see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and He shall give to him life to those sinning not unto death; there is sin to death, not concerning it do I speak that he may beseech;

^{17 Ref} all unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not unto death.

^{18 Ref} We have known that every one who hath been begotten of God doth not sin, but he who was begotten of God doth keep himself, and the evil one doth not touch him;

^{19 Ref} we have known that of God we are, and the whole world in the evil doth lie;

^{20 Ref} and we have known that the Son of God is come, and hath given us a mind, that we may know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ; this one is the true God and the life age-during!

^{21 Ref} Little children, guard yourselves from the idols! Amen.

^{1 Ref} Everyone who has faith that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God: and everyone who has love for the Father has love for his child.

^{2 Ref} In this way, we are certain that we have love for the children of God, when we have love for God and keep his laws.

^{3 Ref} For loving God is keeping his laws: and his laws are not hard.

^{4 Ref} Anything which comes from God is able to overcome the world: and the power by which we have overcome the world is our faith.

^{5 Ref} Who is able to overcome the world but the man who has faith that Jesus is the Son of God?

^{6 Ref} This is he who came by water and by blood, Jesus Christ; not by water only but by water and by blood.

^{7 Ref} And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is true.

^{8 Ref} There are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood: and all three are in agreement.

^{9 Ref} If we take the witness of men to be true, the witness of God is greater: because this is the witness which God has given about his Son.

^{10 Ref} He who has faith in the Son of God has the witness in himself: he who has not faith in God makes him false, because he has not faith in the witness which God has given about his Son.

^{11 Ref} And his witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

^{12 Ref} He who has the Son has the life; he who has not the Son of God has not the life.

^{13 Ref} I have put these things in writing for you who have faith in the name of the Son of God, so that you may be certain that you have eternal life.

^{14 Ref} And we are certain that if we make any request to him which is right in his eyes, he will give ear to us:

^{15 Ref} And if we are certain that he gives ear to all our requests, we are equally certain that we will get our requests.

^{16 Ref} If a man sees his brother doing a sin which is not bad enough for death, let him make a prayer to God, and God will give life to him whose sin was not bad enough for death. There is a sin whose punishment is death: I do not say that he may make such a request then.

^{17 Ref} All evil-doing is sin: but death is not the punishment for every sort of sin.

^{18 Ref} We are certain that one who is a child of God will do no sin, but the Son of God keeps him so that he is not touched by the Evil One.

^{19 Ref} We are certain that we are of God, but all the world is in the power of the Evil One.

^{20 Ref} And we are certain that the Son of God has come, and has given us a clear vision, so that we may see him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

^{21 Ref} My little children, keep yourselves from false gods.

^{1 Ref} Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the father also loves the child who is born of him.

^{2 Ref} By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.

^{3 Ref} For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.

^{4 Ref} For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

^{9 Ref} If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God's testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.

^{10 Ref} He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn't believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.

^{11 Ref} The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

^{12 Ref} He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn't have God's Son doesn't have the life.

^{13 Ref} These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

^{14 Ref} This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

^{15 Ref} And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

^{16 Ref} If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death. I don't say that he should make a request concerning this.

^{17 Ref} All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

^{18 Ref} We know that whoever is born of God doesn't sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn't touch him.

^{19 Ref} We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

^{20 Ref} We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

^{21 Ref} Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
