1 Peter 2
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
21 Ref for to this ye were called, because Christ also did suffer for you, leaving to you an example, that ye may follow his steps,
22 Ref who did not commit sin, nor was guile found in his mouth,
23 Ref who being reviled -- was not reviling again, suffering -- was not threatening, and was committing himself to Him who is judging righteously,
24 Ref who our sins himself did bear in his body, upon the tree, that to the sins having died, to the righteousness we may live; by whose stripes ye were healed,
25 Ref for ye were as sheep going astray, but ye turned back now to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
Bible in Basic English (BBE)
21 Ref This is God's purpose for you: because Jesus himself underwent punishment for you, giving you an example, so that you might go in his footsteps:
22 Ref Who did no evil, and there was no deceit in his mouth:
23 Ref To sharp words he gave no sharp answer; when he was undergoing pain, no angry word came from his lips; but he put himself into the hands of the judge of righteousness:
24 Ref He took our sins on himself, giving his body to be nailed on the tree, so that we, being dead to sin, might have a new life in righteousness, and by his wounds we have been made well.
25 Ref Because, like sheep, you had gone out of the way; but now you have come back to him who keeps watch over your souls.
