2 Thessalonians 1

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Ref Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, to the assembly of Thessalonians in God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Ref Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

3 Ref We ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because increase greatly doth your faith, and abound doth the love of each one of you all, to one another;

4 Ref so that we ourselves do glory in you in the assemblies of God, for your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye bear;

5 Ref a token of the righteous judgment of God, for your being counted worthy of the reign of God, for which also ye suffer,

6 Ref since `it is' a righteous thing with God to give back to those troubling you -- trouble,

7 Ref and to you who are troubled -- rest with us in the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with messengers of his power,

8 Ref in flaming fire, giving vengeance to those not knowing God, and to those not obeying the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 Ref who shall suffer justice -- destruction age-during -- from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his strength,

10 Ref when He may come to be glorified in his saints, and to be wondered at in all those believing -- because our testimony was believed among you -- in that day;

11 Ref for which also we do pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of the calling, and may fulfil all the good pleasure of goodness, and the work of the faith in power,

12 Ref that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.

King James Version (KJV)

1 Ref Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Ref Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Ref We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 Ref So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Ref Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 Ref Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 Ref And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 Ref In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Ref Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 Ref When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 Ref Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 Ref That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

1 Ref Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Ref Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Ref It is right for us to give praise to God at all times for you, brothers, because of the great increase of your faith, and the wealth of your love for one another;

4 Ref So that we ourselves take pride in you in the churches of God for your untroubled mind and your faith in all the troubles and sorrows which you are going through;

5 Ref Which is a clear sign of the decision which God in his righteousness has made; to give you a part in his kingdom, for which you have undergone this pain;

6 Ref For it is an act of righteousness on God's part to give trouble as their reward to those who are troubling you,

7 Ref And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus comes from heaven with the angels of his power in flames of fire,

8 Ref To give punishment to those who have no knowledge of God, and to those who do not give ear to the good news of our Lord Jesus:

9 Ref Whose reward will be eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,

10 Ref At his coming, when he will have glory in his saints, and will be a cause of wonder in all those who had faith (because our witness among you had effect) in that day.

11 Ref For this reason, you are ever in our prayers, that you may seem to our God such as may have a part in his purpose and that by his power he will make all his good purpose, and the work of faith, complete;

12 Ref So that glory may be given to the name of our Lord Jesus through you, and you may have glory in him, by the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
