Revelation 13

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Ref And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and I saw out of the sea a beast coming up, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its heads a name of evil speaking,

2 Ref and the beast that I saw was like to a leopard, and its feet as of a bear, and its mouth as the mouth of a lion, and the dragon did give to it his power, and his throne, and great authority.

3 Ref And I saw one of its heads as slain to death, and its deadly stroke was healed, and all the earth did wonder after the beast,

4 Ref and they did bow before the dragon who did give authority to the beast, and they did bow before the beast, saying, `Who `is' like to the beast? who is able to war with it?'

5 Ref And there was given to it a mouth speaking great things, and evil-speakings, and there was given to it authority to make war forty-two months,

6 Ref and it did open its mouth for evil-speaking toward God, to speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle, and of those who in the heaven tabernacle,

7 Ref and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them, and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.

8 Ref And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world;

9 Ref if any one hath an ear -- let him hear:

10 Ref if any one a captivity doth gather, into captivity he doth go away; if any one by sword doth kill, it behoveth him by sword to be killed; here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

11 Ref And I saw another beast coming up out of the land, and it had two horns, like a lamb, and it was speaking as a dragon,

12 Ref and all the authority of the first beast doth it do before it, and it maketh the land and those dwelling in it that they shall bow before the first beast, whose deadly stroke was healed,

13 Ref and it doth great signs, that fire also it may make to come down from the heaven to the earth before men,

14 Ref and it leadeth astray those dwelling on the land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that hath the stroke of the sword and did live,

15 Ref and there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, that also the image of the beast may speak, and `that' it may cause as many as shall not bow before the image of the beast, that they may be killed.

16 Ref And it maketh all, the small, and the great, and the rich, and the poor, and the freemen, and the servants, that it may give to them a mark upon their right hand or upon their foreheads,

17 Ref and that no one may be able to buy, or to sell, except he who is having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Ref Here is the wisdom! He who is having the understanding, let him count the number of the beast, for the number of a man it is, and its number `is' 666.

King James Version (KJV)

1 Ref And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2 Ref And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3 Ref And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

4 Ref And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

5 Ref And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

6 Ref And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

7 Ref And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

8 Ref And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 Ref If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 Ref He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

11 Ref And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 Ref And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 Ref And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 Ref And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

15 Ref And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 Ref And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 Ref And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Ref Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
