^{1 Ref} For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.

^{2 Ref} Behold, I Paul say unto you, that, if ye receive circumcision, Christ will profit you nothing.

^{3 Ref} Yea, I testify again to every man that receiveth circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

^{4 Ref} Ye are severed from Christ, ye would be justified by the law; ye are fallen away from grace.

^{5 Ref} For we through the Spirit by faith wait for the hope of righteousness.

^{6 Ref} For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith working through love.

^{7 Ref} Ye were running well; who hindered you that ye should not obey the truth?

^{8 Ref} This persuasion `came' not of him that calleth you.

^{9 Ref} A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

^{10 Ref} I have confidence to you-ward in the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

^{11 Ref} But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? then hath the stumbling-block of the cross been done away.

^{12 Ref} I would that they that unsettle you would even go beyond circumcision.

^{13 Ref} For ye, brethren, were called for freedom; only `use' not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants one to another.

^{14 Ref} For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, `even' in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

^{15 Ref} But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

^{16 Ref} But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

^{17 Ref} For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would.

^{18 Ref} But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

^{19 Ref} Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are `these': fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

^{20 Ref} idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,

^{21 Ref} envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

^{22 Ref} But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

^{23 Ref} meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.

^{24 Ref} And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

^{25 Ref} If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk.

^{26 Ref} Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

^{1 Ref} Christ has truly made us free: then keep your free condition and let no man put a yoke on you again.

^{2 Ref} See, I Paul say to you, that if you undergo circumcision, Christ will be of no use to you.

^{3 Ref} Yes, I give witness again to every man who undergoes circumcision, that he will have to keep all the law.

^{4 Ref} You are cut off from Christ, you who would have righteousness by the law; you are turned away from grace.

^{5 Ref} For we through the Spirit by faith are waiting for the hope of righteousness.

^{6 Ref} Because in Christ Jesus, having circumcision or not having circumcision are equally of no profit; but only faith working through love.

^{7 Ref} You were going on well; who was the cause of your not giving ear to what is true?

^{8 Ref} This ready belief did not come from him who had made you his.

^{9 Ref} A little leaven makes a change in all the mass.

^{10 Ref} I am certain about you in the Lord, that you will be of no other mind; but he who is troubling you will have his punishment, whoever he is.

^{11 Ref} But I, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still attacked? then has the shame of the cross been taken away.

^{12 Ref} My desire is that they who give you trouble might even be cut off themselves.

^{13 Ref} Because you, brothers, were marked out to be free; only do not make use of your free condition to give the flesh its chance, but through love be servants one to another.

^{14 Ref} For all the law is made complete in one word, even in this, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself.

^{15 Ref} But if you are given to fighting with one another, take care that you are not the cause of destruction one to another.

^{16 Ref} But I say, Go on in the Spirit, and you will not come under the rule of the evil desires of the flesh.

^{17 Ref} For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; because these are opposite the one to the other; so that you may not do the things which you have a mind to do.

^{18 Ref} But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

^{19 Ref} Now the works of the flesh are clear, which are these: evil desire, unclean things, wrong use of the senses,

^{20 Ref} Worship of images, use of strange powers, hates, fighting, desire for what another has, angry feelings, attempts to get the better of others, divisions, false teachings,

^{21 Ref} Envy, uncontrolled drinking and feasting, and such things: of which I give you word clearly, even as I did in the past, that they who do such things will have no part in the kingdom of God.

^{22 Ref} But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith,

^{23 Ref} Gentle behaviour, control over desires: against such there is no law.

^{24 Ref} And those who are Christ's have put to death on the cross the flesh with its passions and its evil desires.

^{25 Ref} If we are living by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us be guided.

^{26 Ref} Let us not be full of self-glory, making one another angry, having envy of one another.
