Psalms 36

American Standard-ASV1901 (ASV)

1 Ref The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.

2 Ref For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

3 Ref The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He hath ceased to be wise `and' to do good.

4 Ref He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil.

5 Ref Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness `reacheth' unto the skies.

6 Ref Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.

7 Ref How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.

8 Ref They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

9 Ref For with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light.

10 Ref Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee, And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

11 Ref Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.

12 Ref There are the workers of iniquity fallen: They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise. Psalm 37 `A Psalm' of David.

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

1 Ref <To the chief music-maker. Of the servant of the Lord. Of David.> The sin of the evil-doer says in his heart, There is no fear of the Lord before his eyes.

2 Ref For he takes comfort in the thought that his sin will not be uncovered and hated.

3 Ref In the words of his mouth are evil and deceit; he has given up being wise and doing good.

4 Ref He gives thought to evil on his bed; he takes a way which is not good; he is not a hater of evil.

5 Ref Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and your strong purpose is as high as the clouds.

6 Ref Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judging is like the great deep; O Lord, you give life to man and beast.

7 Ref How good is your loving mercy, O God! the children of men take cover under the shade of your wings.

8 Ref The delights of your house will be showered on them; you will give them drink from the river of your pleasures.

9 Ref For with you is the fountain of life: in your light we will see light.

10 Ref O let there be no end to your loving mercy to those who have knowledge of you, or of your righteousness to the upright in heart.

11 Ref Let not the foot of pride come against me, or the hand of the evil-doers put me out of my place.

12 Ref There the workers of evil have come down: they have been made low, and will not be lifted up.
