³ And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.

¹³ And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

¹⁴ And these are the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

¹⁵ and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

¹⁶ and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.

³⁰ And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten; for he had many wives.

³¹ And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, and he called his name Abimelech.

⁵ And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: but Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.

² And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his first-born was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;

³ and his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

⁴ and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

⁵ and the sixth, Ithream, of Eglah, David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

²¹ And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines, and begat twenty and eight sons and threescore daughters.)

²⁸ which my soul still seeketh, but I have not found: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.
