⁴ And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

⁴³ And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria.

¹⁴ but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.

²⁷ neither give place to the devil.

⁹ Woe to him that getteth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

¹⁰ Thou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thy soul.

¹¹ For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

¹² Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by iniquity!

⁹ And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

¹ But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.

²⁰ But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it cannot rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt.

²¹ There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

⁸ Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; `and' the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

⁹ Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry; for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

⁹ Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this also is vanity and a striving after wind.

² For vexation killeth the foolish man, And jealousy slayeth the silly one.

³ And Naboth said to Ahab, Jehovah forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

⁴ And he said unto him, Why, O son of the king, art thou thus lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

² And Amnon was so vexed that he fell sick because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything unto her.

¹³ And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land; for Jehovah refuseth to give me leave to go with you.

¹⁴ And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

⁵ but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

⁶ And Jehovah said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

⁷ If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it.

⁸ And Cain told Abel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
