²⁶ And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

⁹ From the wicked that oppress me, My deadly enemies, that compass me about.

⁹ And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down out of heaven, and devoured them.

⁸ For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell `us' in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

⁷ O Jehovah the Lord, the strength of my salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

⁸ Grant not, O Jehovah, the desires of the wicked; Further not his evil device, `lest' they exalt themselves. Selah

⁹ As for the head of those that compass me about, Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

¹¹ They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

¹² They compassed me about like bees; They are quenched as the fire of thorns: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

¹³ Thou didst thrust sore at me that I might fall; But Jehovah helped me.

¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: A company of evil-doers have inclosed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.

¹¹ They have now compassed us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast `us' down to the earth.

¹⁴ And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

³⁸ And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.

¹² So Michal let David down through the window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
