²⁰ And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.

¹⁴ Then Jesus therefore said unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

³ The sisters therefore sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

¹² Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, there was carried out one that was dead, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

³⁵ yea and a sword shall pierce through thine own soul; that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed.

¹⁶ Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.

¹⁷ Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.

¹⁸ So I spake unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

¹³ As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee.

¹⁷ And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

⁵ And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

³ Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors.

² And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah. And offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
