¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed;

¹⁵ See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

²⁶ Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

¹ And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Jehovah thy God hath driven thee,

³⁶ But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All they that hate me love death.

²⁶ I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over the Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

³⁰ I have chosen the way of faithfulness: Thine ordinances have I set `before me'.

²¹ I charge `thee' in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.

⁴² but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

¹ Hear ye now what Jehovah saith: Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

² Hear, O ye mountains, Jehovah's controversy, and ye enduring foundations of the earth; for Jehovah hath a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.

¹⁷³ Let thy hand be ready to help me; For I have chosen thy precepts.

¹⁵ And if it seem evil unto you to serve Jehovah, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

¹⁶ And the people answered and said, Far be it from us that we should forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods;

¹⁷ for Jehovah our God, he it is that brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and that did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the peoples through the midst of whom we passed;

¹⁸ and Jehovah drove out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites that dwelt in the land: therefore we also will serve Jehovah; for he is our God.

¹⁹ And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve Jehovah; for he is a holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgression nor your sins.

²⁰ If ye forsake Jehovah, and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you evil, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

²¹ And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve Jehovah.

²² And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you Jehovah, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

¹ Give ear, ye heavens, and I will speak; And let the earth hear the words of my mouth.

²⁸ Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them.

² Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for Jehovah hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

¹² Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith Jehovah.

¹³ For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

²⁹ O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah.

³⁰ Thus saith Jehovah, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no more shall a man of his seed prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling in Judah.

³⁹ and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

³⁹ For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, `even' as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.

⁴ For thus saith Jehovah of the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and hold fast my covenant:

²⁹ For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of Jehovah:

¹¹¹ Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever; For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
