²⁶ Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the heart of the seas.

⁷ With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

¹⁷ I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

¹⁹ For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and the great waters shall cover thee;

¹⁴ But after no long time there beat down from it a tempestuous wind, which is called Euraquilo:

³ The floods have lifted up, O Jehovah, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.

⁴ Above the voices of many waters, The mighty breakers of the sea, Jehovah on high is mighty.

²³ Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not strengthen the foot of their mast, they could not spread the sail: then was the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame took the prey.

³⁴ In the time that thou wast broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, thy merchandise and all thy company did fall in the midst of thee.

⁴¹ But lighting upon a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground; and the foreship struck and remained unmoveable, but the stern began to break up by the violence `of the waves'.

¹⁵ And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
