¹⁹ The meek also shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren; did not God choose them that are poor as to the world `to be' rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening `of the prison' to them that are bound;

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

⁹ But let the brother of low degree glory in his high estate:

⁵ the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings preached to them.

⁵ Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

⁹ The meek will he guide in justice; And the meek will he teach his way.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

¹ Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

² as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;

³ if ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious:

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? let him show by his good life his works in meekness of wisdom.

¹⁴ But if ye have bitter jealousy and faction in your heart, glory not and lie not against the truth.

¹⁵ This wisdom is not `a wisdom' that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

¹⁶ For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without variance, without hypocrisy.

¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.

²¹ Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.

¹ Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe.

² Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision:

³ for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:

¹ If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassions,

² make full my joy, that ye be of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;

³ `doing' nothing through faction or through vainglory, but in lowliness of mind each counting other better than himself;

² with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

²³ meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.

⁵ Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy, Now will I arise, saith Jehovah; I will set him in the safety he panteth for.

⁴ For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.

⁴ but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

³⁰ And the first-born of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill thy root with famine, and thy remnant shall be slain.

³² What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and in her shall the afflicted of his people take refuge.

¹⁶ Thou shalt winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁷ The poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst; I, Jehovah, will answer them, I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

¹⁸ I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with a garland, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

² For all these things hath my hand made, and `so' all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.

¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

³ Seek ye Jehovah, all ye meek of the earth, that have kept his ordinances; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye will be hid in the day of Jehovah's anger.

¹² But I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall take refuge in the name of Jehovah.

¹³ The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth; for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

¹⁴ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

¹⁵ Jehovah hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; thou shalt not fear evil any more.

¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not; O Zion, let not thy hands be slack.

¹⁷ Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will joy over thee with singing.

¹⁸ I will gather them that sorrow for the solemn assembly, who were of thee; `to whom' the burden upon her was a reproach.

²⁶ For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, `are called':

²⁷ but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;

²⁸ and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, `yea' and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:

²⁹ that no flesh should glory before God.

¹⁸ For the needy shall not alway be forgotten, Nor the expectation of the poor perish for ever.
