¹² I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass;

²⁴ For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:

⁶ Jehovah is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me?

²² Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?

²⁶ But the Comforter, `even' the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

³ For Jehovah hath comforted Zion; he hath comforted all her waste places, and hath made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

¹³ As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

¹⁸ I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

¹¹ For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass: and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

⁵ For even when we were come into Macedonia our flesh had no relief, but `we were' afflicted on every side; without `were' fightings, within `were' fears.

⁶ Nevertheless he that comforteth the lowly, `even' God, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

³ Blessed `be' the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;

⁴ who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

⁵ For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ.

⁷ Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings.

⁸ For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation unto all generations.

²⁵ I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake; and I will not remember thy sins.

⁶ The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field.

⁷ The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, because the breath of Jehovah bloweth upon it; surely the people is grass.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

¹⁶ For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more.

⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

⁶ In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

⁴ His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.

²⁶ Many seek the ruler's favor; But a man's judgment `cometh' from Jehovah.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

¹⁶ For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls that I have made.

¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him; I hid `my face' and was wroth; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

¹⁸ I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer thee in this matter.

¹⁷ If it be `so', our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of thy hand, O king.

¹⁸ But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

²⁸ And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

⁴ And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

⁵ But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

³¹ So the church throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being edified; and, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, was multiplied.

⁷ When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; It is that they shall be destroyed for ever.
