¹⁹ But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, `saying', Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

¹⁸ Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

⁷ He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

⁸ By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who `among them' considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke `was due'?

⁴ They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

¹³ Man knoweth not the price thereof; Neither is it found in the land of the living.

¹⁰ For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, `say' all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

¹³ `I had fainted', unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living.

⁵ God will likewise destroy thee for ever; He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, And root thee out of the land of the living. Selah

¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; In the generation following let their name be blotted out.

¹⁰ And at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

¹¹ And he sent yet another servant: and him also they beat, and handled him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

¹² And he sent yet a third: and him also they wounded, and cast him forth.

¹³ And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will reverence him.

¹⁴ But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

¹⁵ And they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

³ Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;

⁴ and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

²⁶ And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined.

¹¹ I said, I shall not see Jehovah, `even' Jehovah in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

¹³ For I have heard the defaming of many, Terror on every side: While they took counsel together against me, They devised to take away my life.

¹⁵ But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: The abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew `it' not; They did tear me, and ceased not:

³² The wicked watcheth the righteous, And seeketh to slay him.

³³ Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged.

⁶ For he shall never be moved; The righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.

⁹ I will walk before Jehovah In the land of the living.

⁵ I cried unto thee, O Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.

²² He goeth after her straightway, As an ox goeth to the slaughter, Or as `one in' fetters to the correction of the fool;

⁷ The memory of the righteous is blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.

⁷ And the instruments of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the meek with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.
