²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And holdest me for thine enemy?

¹¹ He hath also kindled his wrath against me, And he counteth me unto him as `one of' his adversaries.

⁵ The Lord is become as an enemy, he hath swallowed up Israel; He hath swallowed up all her palaces, he hath destroyed his strongholds; And he hath multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.

¹ How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

¹⁷ And I will wait for Jehovah, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

¹⁴ Jehovah, why castest thou off my soul? Why hidest thou thy face from me?

²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

¹⁰ Behold, he findeth occasions against me, He counteth me for his enemy:

²⁰ And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: For they are a very perverse generation, Children in whom is no faithfulness.

¹⁵ And `yet' count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

⁶ I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart; And my spirit maketh diligent search.

⁷ Will the Lord cast off for ever? And will he be favorable no more?

⁸ Is his lovingkindness clean gone for ever? Doth his promise fail for evermore?

⁹ Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah

¹ Why standest thou afar off, O Jehovah? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

³⁵ Oh that I had one to hear me! (Lo, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me); And `that I had' the indictment which mine adversary hath written!

²¹ Thou art turned to be cruel to me; With the might of thy hand thou persecutest me.

² Oh that I were as in the months of old, As in the days when God watched over me;

³ When his lamp shined upon my head, And by his light I walked through darkness;

⁹ He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

² I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; Show me wherefore thou contendest with me.

¹⁶ And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Jehovah is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary?
