² Should a wise man make answer with vain knowledge, And fill himself with the east wind?

²⁶ Do ye think to reprove words, Seeing that the speeches of one that is desperate are as wind?

² How long wilt thou speak these things? And `how long' shall the words of thy mouth be `like' a mighty wind?

¹ Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he continually multiplieth lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

² Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified?

³ Should thy boastings make men hold their peace? And when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

² What ye know, `the same' do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? let him show by his good life his works in meekness of wisdom.
