³⁴ For the company of the godless shall be barren, And fire shall consume the tents of bribery.

¹³ So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish:

⁵¹ and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

² The godly man is perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

¹¹ Forasmuch therefore as ye trample upon the poor, and take exactions from him of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink the wine thereof.

¹² For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins-ye that afflict the just, that take a bribe, and that turn aside the needy in the gate `from their right'.

¹⁴ The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?

¹⁵ He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from taking a bribe, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil:

¹³ But they that are godless in heart lay up anger: They cry not for help when he bindeth them.

¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.

¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My justice was as a robe and a diadem.

¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame.

¹⁶ I was a father to the needy: And the cause of him that I knew not I searched out.

¹⁷ And I brake the jaws of the unrighteous, And plucked the prey out of his teeth.

⁸ For what is the hope of the godless, though he get him gain, When God taketh away his soul?

⁵ Is not thy wickedness great? Neither is there any end to thine iniquities.

⁶ For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought, And stripped the naked of their clothing.

⁷ Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, And thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; And the honorable man, he dwelt in it.

⁹ Thou hast sent widows away empty, And the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

¹ Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

⁶ The tents of robbers prosper, And they that provoke God are secure; Into whose hand God bringeth `abundantly'.

¹⁴ If iniquity be in thy hand, put it far away, And let not unrighteousness dwell in thy tents.

²² They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; And the tent of the wicked shall be no more.

³ Here I am: witness against me before Jehovah, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I taken a ransom to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.

³ And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted justice.
