³³ The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, And all men shall draw after him, As there were innumerable before him.

²⁷ And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this `cometh' judgment;

²³ For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, And to the house appointed for all living.

⁷ and the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.

⁸ There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power over the day of death; and there is no discharge in war: neither shall wickedness deliver him that is given to it.

⁴ One generation goeth, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth for ever.

²⁴ They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone; Yea, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, And are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.

¹⁶ It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, When once there is rest in the dust.

²² Who rejoice exceedingly, And are glad, when they can find the grave?

¹⁷ There the wicked cease from troubling; And there the weary are at rest.

¹⁸ There the prisoners are at ease together; They hear not the voice of the taskmaster.

¹⁹ The small and the great are there: And the servant is free from his master.

¹⁹ in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
