⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; And the honorable man, he dwelt in it.

¹⁵ The elder and the honorable man, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

¹³ And the two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him: and the base fellows bare witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did curse God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him to death with stones.

¹⁴ Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

¹⁵ And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

⁸ Will ye show partiality to him? Will ye contend for God?

⁷ When I went forth to the gate unto the city, When I prepared my seat in the street,

⁸ The young men saw me and hid themselves, And the aged rose up and stood;

⁹ The princes refrained from talking, And laid their hand on their mouth;

¹⁰ The voice of the nobles was hushed, And their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

¹¹ For when the ear heard `me', then it blessed me; And when the eye saw `me', it gave witness unto me:

¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.

¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My justice was as a robe and a diadem.

¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame.

¹⁶ I was a father to the needy: And the cause of him that I knew not I searched out.

¹⁷ And I brake the jaws of the unrighteous, And plucked the prey out of his teeth.

³⁴ Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, So that I kept silence, and went not out of the door-
