¹⁴ For he performeth that which is appointed for me: And many such things are with him.

³ that no man be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed.

³ So am I made to possess months of misery, And wearisome nights are appointed to me.

¹⁹ Thy way was in the sea, And thy paths in the great waters, And thy footsteps were not known.

² Clouds and darkness are round about him: Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

²⁷ Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from Jehovah, and the justice `due' to me is passed away from my God?

²⁸ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding.

⁹ The voice of Jehovah crieth unto the city, and `the man of' wisdom will see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

⁹ For God appointed us not into wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁸ and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
