⁸ Let them curse it that curse the day, Who are ready to rouse up leviathan.

¹ Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fishhook? Or press down his tongue with a cord?

¹⁰ None is so fierce that he dare stir him up; Who then is he that can stand before me?

²⁵ And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations unto this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

²⁵ When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid: By reason of consternation they are beside themselves.

¹⁷ Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skilful women, that they may come:

¹⁸ and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! Alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

¹⁷ and say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not mourn.

³⁸ And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholdeth a tumult, and `many' weeping and wailing greatly.
