²⁶ When I looked for good, then evil came; And when I waited for light, there came darkness.

²⁵ For the thing which I fear cometh upon me, And that which I am afraid of cometh unto me.

¹² For the inhabitant of Maroth waiteth anxiously for good, because evil is come down from Jehovah unto the gate of Jerusalem.

¹⁸ Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou indeed be unto me as a deceitful `brook', as waters that fail?

¹⁰ Who is among you that feareth Jehovah, that obeyeth the voice of his servant? he that walketh in darkness, and hath no light, let him trust in the name of Jehovah, and rely upon his God.

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.

¹⁸ Then I said, I shall die in my nest, And I shall multiply my days as the sand:

¹⁷ Because I was not cut off before the darkness, Neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.

⁸ He hath walled up my way that I cannot pass, And hath set darkness in my paths.

¹⁸ He shall be driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world.

⁶ The light shall be dark in his tent, And his lamp above him shall be put out.
