²³ For he needeth not further to consider a man, That he should go before God in judgment.

⁷ O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

⁸ O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

⁹ To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him;

¹³⁷ TSADHE. Righteous art thou, O Jehovah, And upright are thy judgments.

²⁰ Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?

⁵ thus saith Jehovah, What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

³ A bruised reed will he not break, and a dimly burning wick will he not quench: he will bring forth justice in truth.

¹⁰ Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: Far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, And from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

¹¹ For the work of a man will he render unto him, And cause every man to find according to his ways.

¹² Yea, of a surety, God will not do wickedly, Neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

⁷ There the upright might reason with him; So should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

²¹ That he would maintain the right of a man with God, And of a son of man with his neighbor!

¹¹ For he knoweth false men: He seeth iniquity also, even though he consider it not.

⁶ And that he would show thee the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding. Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

³² For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, That we should come together in judgment.

³³ There is no umpire betwixt us, That might lay his hand upon us both.

¹³ And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great guilt, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such a remnant,
