²⁷ For he draweth up the drops of water, Which distil in rain from his vapor,

⁸ Who covereth the heavens with clouds, Who prepareth rain for the earth, Who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

²⁵ Who hath cleft a channel for the waterflood, Or the way for the lightning of the thunder;

²⁶ To cause it to rain on a land where no man is; On the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

²⁷ To satisfy the waste and desolate `ground', And to cause the tender grass to spring forth?

²⁸ Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

²² Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Jehovah our God? therefore we will wait for thee; for thou hast made all these things.

⁶ and I will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned nor hoed; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

⁸ Fire and hail, snow and vapor; Stormy wind, fulfilling his word;

⁹ Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it, Thou greatly enrichest it; The river of God is full of water: Thou providest them grain, when thou hast so prepared the earth.

¹⁰ Thou waterest its furrows abundantly; Thou settlest the ridges thereof: Thou makest it soft with showers; Thou blessest the springing thereof.

¹¹ Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; And thy paths drop fatness.

¹² They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness; And the hills are girded with joy.

³⁴ Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, That abundance of waters may cover thee?

³³ The noise thereof telleth concerning him, The cattle also concerning `the storm' that cometh up.

⁹ Who doeth great things and unsearchable, Marvellous things without number:

⁵ And no plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth: and there was not a man to till the ground;

⁶ but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
