²³ `Touching' the Almighty, we cannot find him out He is excellent in power; And in justice and plenteous righteousness he will not afflict.

¹⁶ who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom `be' honor and power eternal. Amen.

⁴ The king's strength also loveth justice; Thou dost establish equity; Thou executest justice and righteousness in Jacob.

⁵ Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: He is mighty in strength of understanding.

⁴ `He is' wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who hath hardened himself against him, and prospered?-

⁷ Canst thou by searching find out God? Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

²¹ Declare ye, and bring `it' forth; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath showed this from ancient time? who hath declared it of old? have not I, Jehovah? and there is no God else besides me, a just God and a Saviour; there is none besides me.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

³² For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

³³ For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

²³ Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?

³² For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah: wherefore turn yourselves, and live.

¹³ And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil `one.'

²² All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal `him'.

¹⁰ For they indeed for a few days chastened `us' as seemed good to them; but he for `our' profit, that `we' may be partakers of his holiness.

¹¹ He hath made everything beautiful in its time: also he hath set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.

³ And I have not learned wisdom, Neither have I the knowledge of the Holy One.

⁴ Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in his garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou knowest?

¹⁹ If `we speak' of strength, lo, `he is' mighty! And if of justice, Who, `saith he', will summon me?

¹³ With `God' is wisdom and might; He hath counsel and understanding.

⁷ But now he hath made me weary: Thou hast made desolate all my company.

⁸ And thou hast laid fast hold on me, `which' is a witness `against me': And my leanness riseth up against me, It testifieth to my face.

⁹ He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

¹⁰ They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me.

¹¹ God delivereth me to the ungodly, And casteth me into the hands of the wicked.

¹² I was at ease, and he brake me asunder; Yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: He hath also set me up for his mark.

¹³ His archers compass me round about; He cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; He poureth out my gall upon the ground.

¹⁴ He breaketh me with breach upon breach; He runneth upon me like a giant.

¹⁵ I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, And have laid my horn in the dust.

¹⁶ My face is red with weeping, And on my eyelids is the shadow of death;

¹⁷ Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.

¹⁴ Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways: And how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?

²⁶ Behold, God is great, and we know him not; The number of his years is unsearchable.

¹⁹ Teach us what we shall say unto him; `For' we cannot set `our speech' in order by reason of darkness.

⁵ For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy `cometh' in the morning.

⁵ Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness `reacheth' unto the skies.

⁶ Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.

⁷ How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.

¹¹ God hath spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongeth unto God.

⁶ Who by his strength setteth fast the mountains, Being girded about with might;

³ Say unto God, How terrible are thy works! Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

¹ Jehovah reigneth; he is clothed with majesty; Jehovah is clothed with strength; he hath girded himself therewith: The world also is established, that it cannot be moved.

⁶ Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that in them is; Who keepeth truth for ever;

⁷ Who executeth justice for the oppressed; Who giveth food to the hungry. Jehovah looseth the prisoners;

³ Doth God pervert justice? Or doth the Almighty pervert righteousness?
